Generally documents are the things that are the subjects in the ACL
rules but because of the fine grained access control in read rights you
can go as far down as parts & fields. In any case a user needs to have
complete write access to a document to be able to write to it.

Actually this is what I meant by ACL sensitive. These are the fields
that you can mark as 'ACL Allowed' in the field type editor.
