Thomas,

Perhaps you can point us all to some reference on DITA and some examples
of it's use? Your post is the first I've heard of it.

Are you looking for partners to help develop an interface and display
around the DITA standard, or something else? As DITA is XML compliant it
seems that there shouldn't be an terrible difficulty in managing DITA
data in daisy (from my perspective)...

Best regards,

John Kealy

We are very interested in DITA compatibility with Daisy. We are planning
to convert our Framemaker documentation to DITA, and we are also avid
users of Daisy. Daisy is playing more and more of a role in our content
management, and if there were some kind of integration between our DITA
documentation and various aspects of Daisy (especially the publish
feature) it would be of great interest to us.

One of the biggest recent developments in the world of technical
publishing is the growth of the DITA standard for structuring
technical documentation. DITA started as a big-company initiative at
IBM, but it's become an OASIS standard, and it's supported by the Open
Toolkit, which is freely available. More and more commercial CMS's
are offering DITA support for creating and managing topics but I don't
know of support in any open source CMS.

This is a general survey to check interest and activity related to
DITA in the Daisy community, and perhaps start a discussion about DITA
support in Daisy.

Is anyone interested? If so are you already using DITA? Are there in
fact other open source CMSs that support it?

The basic question is whether this is an area that is of interest to
Daisy users, whether resources are available and/or should be used to
provide Daisy support for DITA and if so where they might come from.

To get things started I've put a few thoughts into a Wiki article
(http://cocoondev.org/wiki/g5/562-cd.html
). Check this out if you're interested! If anyone has any interest,
thoughts or related information, please respond!

Thanks in advance,
Peter D.
