[daisy] Excluding fields from variants

Hi,  I finally figured out why I can't create variants (like posted 
before) with our custom doctype:

We use a field in our page which attaches a "simple- document- type" -page 
in our site , similar to the news fields in the sidebox example, with the 
difference that we use a graphic instead of just text. This field is used 
for a header image with different sizes, depending on what level of 
navigation you are (if you look at the page www.workflow.at you will know 
what I mean).  If I comment out this field, variants work just fine.

Is it possible to mark this field as "static" so it won't be taken into a 
new variant? The field should be the same for all variants. Or is there 
another way to accomplish this? 
Please tell me If I should send the custom code.
