I had the same problem with a PNG image created in inkscape. I could only solve it by saving it in another format, re-open it and then save it as PNG again. The strange thing is, that the Image was correctly displayed with Foxit PDF Reader, but not with Adobe Reader. Might be an inkscape issue or an issue with the new fop version?
