When the backup tool is interrupted using e.g. ctrl+c, and it was still in the part of the process where the repository backup lock was active, it could remove the lock or print a warning message that the lock is still active (with a pointer to some docs on how to remove it).

This can be implemented by means of a shutdown hook.
