[daisy] Email subscription based on more parameters

Hi,
 
we have come across the need to send emails for creation and update
events, on documents that have a certain Category assigned. Is there a
way to customize the event system, or to capture events and define
custom actions?
 
Interested in this feature in both version 1.5.1 and version 2.
