The problem that the tags are replicated for each word is easily solved
but not high on my priority list right now. I'll make sure it gets fixed
though.

About the anchors. They are there because they are the only elements
that can be hovered on all browsers (or so I was told). If we add a
meaningful ID to the links then that will only make the words with
changed formatting 'bookmarkable'. I could change the red and green
words to anchors too but in general we'll have problems with existing
links in the document. As you might have noticed they are not rendered
properly when they are curly underlined. There might be a CSS solution
for this and I will look into it.

sorry about the bug in the tag diff. a return statement seems to have
vanished there :) fixed in working copy.
