After spending some more thought on this, I think it is better we'll
make this into 2.x releases anyway. This leaves the 2.0.x numbering free
for the case we need to do real patch releases, and avoids that 2.0.x
releases would require more involved upgrade instructions and own
documentation branches.
Except for the naming, this doesn't change the plan.
