one of the uses cases for import/export is to use it during the development

in that case, one could 
  1/ maintain (either exported, or by hand)  a directory containing the fileset to be imported.
  2/ keep that (often in sync with e.g. project specific JAVA-code) in svn or cvs sandbox

in that case the current importer is complaining about .svn or CVS sundirectories which it should just ignore
