Everyone,
I'm pleased to announce the first Milestone release of Daisy 1.3. The
goal of the Milestone releases is to provide stable points in-between
two major releases. More specifically, Daisy 1.3 Milestone 1 includes
lots of fixes and improvements, making it a recommended upgrade for
everyone.
Of all content management systems ever released, Daisy 1.3 Milestone 1
is, by far, the most recent. The major new feature [in development labor
units] of this release are variants, allowing different language and
branch alternatives of one document. Each variant of a document acts as
a document in its own right (has a version history, is full text
indexed, ...) while sharing the same identity with the other variants of
the same document. An example can be seen on the Daisy site, where the
documentation for version 1.3 has been "branched off" from that of
version 1.2.
There's also a new document task manager allowing the reliable execution
of a task across a set of documents. Navigation trees also have a number
of improvements, in particular related to error-handling and the
look-and-feel of contextualized trees.
The full list of changes is available at:

Also, don't miss out on some new documentation:
* Some information on the variants:
http://cocoondev.org/daisydocs-1_3/repository/general/155.html
* The document about the Java API has been extended with a concrete
sample to get you started, and an example on enabling JMS-based
cache invalidation in the remote client:
http://cocoondev.org/daisydocs-1_3/repository/interfaces/28.html
* It's now also easy to use Javascript to talk to the repository:

Next Steps
==========
Due to some kindly provided sponsering the next month will see the
appearance of these new features:
* support for authentication using LDAP
* option to have all roles active at the same time (thus essentially
treating roles as groups), with the exception of the Administrator role.
* multivalue metadata fields
* filenames for part downloads (retaining the filename of the upload)
That's all.
Have a nice weekend.
